Si Wu Tang - Four Substances Decoction


Chief: (9-21) Shu Di Huang - nourishes blood and yin, tonifies LR, KI

Deputy: (9-15) Bai Shao - nourishes LV and blood

Deputy: (9-12) Dang Gui - nourishes and invigorates blood, regulates menses

Assitant: (3-6) Chuan Xiong - invigorates blood, reduces blood stasis


Nourishes and invigorates blood (Nourish LR blood / Spread LR Qi)

Harmonizes menses and relives pain (Strengthens SP)


For heat replace Shu Di Huang with Shen Di Huang

For abundant blood stasis use Chi Shao instead of Bai Shao

For blood def. and blood stasis for irregular menses / dysmenorrhea - Tao Hong Si Wu Tang = + Tao Ren, + Hong Hua

Restless fetus - Jiao Ai Si Wu Tang = + Ai Ye,  + E Jiao




Dang Gui Shao Yao San - Dang Gui and Peony Powder

= Si Wu Tang - Shu Di Huang + Bai Zhu + Fu Ling + Ze Xie
